Azerbaijan has begun commercial gas supplies to Europe via the Trans-Adriatic Gas Pipeline (TAP), the Ministry of Energy of the republic said.
“With the start of commercial gas supplies to Europe via the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, the strategic goal of the Southern Gas Corridor has been achieved,” the ministry said in a statement. They noted that the start of supplies of Azerbaijani gas to the European market “opens a new page in the development of Azerbaijan as a gas country.”
In November, it was reported that the Trans-Adriatic Gas Pipeline had started commercial operations after four and a half years of construction.
The 878 km long pipeline connects with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) at the Greek-Turkish border and crosses Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea all the way to southern Italy.
